The Prophecy of Jesus in Psalms

Several Psalms in the Old Testament are often interpreted as containing prophecies about the Messiah, whom Christians identify as Jesus. Here are a few Psalms that are commonly associated with Jesus' prophecies.

Psalm 2

This psalm speaks of the Anointed One (Messiah) who will be set as king by God.

Psalm 22

Often referred to as the "Psalm of the Crucifixion," it contains vivid descriptions that are seen as prophetic of Jesus' suffering on the cross.

Psalm 40

The psalmist expresses his obedience and willingness to do God's will, which is often seen as a foreshadowing of Jesus' attitude.

Psalm 45

This psalm describes the glory and majesty of the Messiah, who is seen as a royal figure.

Psalm 69

Similar to Psalm 22, this psalm is associated with the suffering of the Messiah.

Psalm 110

This psalm speaks of a future king and priest, often understood as a messianic prophecy, and is quoted in the New Testament.

Psalm 118

The psalm contains verses that were quoted by Jesus and applied to himself, particularly in reference to the rejection of the cornerstone.

Many  New Testament authors often referenced or quoted from the Psalms to highlight their fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
